1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Convertible Project Goal
The goal was performance. We wanted to honor Joe’s contribution to MINDDRIVE and educational programs across the city with a vehicle that tests the limits of what is possible. The Corvair is also an important piece of Americana. Whether it was used as evidence for a book on automotive safety or by a rival car manufacturer as proof that Americans had an appetite for small sports cars, the Corvair made its mark on history. It was important for us to honor that history and test our own limits in the process. We sourced Tesla batteries to increase our range, and combined a two-speed powerglide with two AC electric motors to handle the torque and speed.
